The reasons for which companies are investing in PPC advertising over the Internet are various, from replacing a SEO campaign to making it an actual strategy in developing brand recognition.

One of the advantages of such a campaign is the instant access to the target audience due to the precise targeting features that help you better define your demographics. The classic marketing is just not enough anymore in order to fully promote a business. Internet promotion and marketing have gained a considerable market share, that's why if a business wants success, but mostly for internet companies and e-shops, PPC advertising is really something they should consider.

For an efficient PPC campaign one should take into consideration several aspects:

  • When a user clicks on an ad, he expects that the page to which he is taken (landing page) illustrates the idea/product/offer mentioned in the ad. If you are promoting and offer it is a good idea to create and/or direct the ad to a page covering the details of the offer.
  • In order for the ads to be efficient you need a clear "call to action". It is important to state exactly what we expect from the visitor, what we want the visitor to do. A clear message has better chances of success than a vague one, which doesn't send a clear message. The content of the ad needs to be attractive and not to mislead, misinform or trick the users.
  • The ad needs to be built so as to reason with the targeted audience; we need to transmit the message like it is best received and understood by the public.
  • The landing page doesn't need to be overcrowded and to overwhelm the public with too much information; it is essential in order to easily find the object/products that were advertised through the ad.
  • Don't forget, the text mustn't be long because nobody reads a lot of text on the Internet. It's important for the ad to be concise, well formatted with titles and clear headings, lists and summaries.
  • You must always have in mind the ROI (Return Over Investment), it's important to know if such a campaign brings the desired results and if the investment in such a campaign is generating profit or any other efficiency indicator.

Some other good ideas for campaign administration:

  • For optimum results the content of the ad needs to coincide with the topic of the targeted page and the chosen keywords for that certain ad group or campaign.
  • Build several variations for the ads in a particular ad group, to which you should verify the efficiency through the CTR (Click through rate); it should be as high as possible.
  • Start biding small amounts for the keywords, in order to have control over the costs and efficiency of the campaign; don't through money away by bidding too much when you can get the same results by spending less.
  • Target the campaign geographically and demographically.
  • Avoid misleading the visitors, nobody likes being tricked.
  • Set negative words and avoid ambiguities; you don't want to pay extra for words that do not represent your products or services.
  • Bid for precise keywords (long-tail keywords) that refer to something very specific and which have a smaller price. Even if there are not so many searches for those keywords, the cost is not at all high and visitors look for that exact thing you offer, thus the conversion rate is better that for more general keywords.
  • Group the keywords into smaller ad groups, with similar meaning, for a better ad quality indicator.
